If you have been following this blog for a while, then you already know what a sucker I am for educational toys. I was selected to review TheO Ball by Physical Apps, where their motto is "Learn while you play." At PhysicalApps.com you can find more information about their available app and the The O Ball itself. All of the apps that I have tried are really cute, and help to build hand-eye coordination when you toss the ball back and forth.
They have quite a few apps available right now and are currently developing more. Most of the apps available for younger children are available as Android apps and games for older kids are largely available for Iphones. I have an Android phone, we tried games available for younger children.
Here are the ones we tested:
Hot Potato - This one is really fun, just an electronic version of the classic "Hot Potato" game, it also has an option where you can actually record players names. During the game it plays back names and you toss to the person named which was pretty cool.
Instruments - Shake or roll the ball to see the instrument and hear the sound it makes. The names are printed on the screen as well.
Active 123- Counts, shows numbers and a picture that represents the number when you shake or roll the ball.
Pop Fun- Shake or roll the ball to "pop" popcorn, bubbles, or balloons before the monster comes.
Active ABC- Sings the ABC Song, shows letters and a picture that begins with that letter when you shake or roll the ball.
Animals- Shake or roll the ball to see the instrument and hear the sound it makes. The names are printed on the screen as well.
You can order The O Smartball and find more information at PhysicalApps.com.
