How To: Make Chips and Salsa For Your Dolls #dollcrafts #DIY #crafts #kidscrafts

No doll party is complete without chips and salsa! (And neither is a human party in my opinion!)  So Teenie and I got crafting!
You will need:
  • A scrap piece of "Sand" scrapbook paper (we got ours at Michael's) or you can use a piece of tan or light yellow construction paper
  • Scrap piece of white paper
  • Scrap piece of green paper
  • Tacky Glue
  • Elmer's Clear School Glue
  • A Doll Platter and Bowl (here's the tutorial)
  • Scissors
  • Red paint, Acrylic or model car paints work best
  • 3-4 Toothpicks

 1. Glue bottom of the bowl to the center of the "platter," with Tacky Glue.  Let dry for about 10 minutes.  Then add equal sized drops of paint and clear glue into the bowl, I used about half the size of a dime.  Then stir together and spread along the bottom of the bowl with a toothpick and set aside.
Cut a few strips of green and white construction paper as thin as you possibly can then gather them and cut into tiny pieces. You will not need very much and you will want to do this over larger sheet of paper, so you can pour them on top of the still wet bowl. Lightly stir with toothpick. If the pieces seem to have trouble sticking, add another small drop of clear glue.  Set aside.
Cut the scrapbook paper (or construction paper) into a 1/4" long strip, then cut strip on an angle to start making triangles.  Make as many as you would like. We used two 12" by 1/4" long pieces of scrapbook paper to make enough to fill our platter.  These will be your chips.
When "salsa" is  dry, spread a layer of tacky glue to the platter around the bowl with a toothpick.  Start adding the chips arranging them around the platter as you go.  If you need to, use a toothpick to push the chips in place. You can layer them like we did to make them look more realistic.  When you are done, add a thin layer of clear school glue on top of the chips and spread over them with a toothpick. This will help to seal your creation, and keep any loose chips from falling off. Let dry.

Now you're ready to play!
