Today at about 3 pm, I realized that I didn't buy any Easter baskets for my minions! I had a bag full of candy and no where to put it. I decided to get crafty and make one. Unfortunately I did really have the craft supplies that I needed on hand, and I have been suffering from sinus induced vertigo that makes me afraid to drive. So I looked around and saw nothing but boxes and construction paper, so I decided to call it a craft and make Minecraft- inspired Easter baskets! Here's how we did it!
First gather your materials, you will need:
Cut top off of box. Cut two strips, the same size from the top of the box about 2 inches wide and 12 inches long. Overlap the ends of the strips about 1 1/2 inches to make the handle. Glue with Tacky Glue and set aside to dry.
Cut construction paper into strips and then cut strips into squares and rectangles of different sizes. We picked 4 colors per basket.
Starting on one side of the box, start arranging and gluing squares and rectangles. Repeat for each side. After glue dries, trim any overhang.
If desired, cover the bottom of the box in either paper pieces or a sheet of construction paper.
For the straps, cover one side with solid construction paper, then start arranging and gluing squares and rectangles. Set aside to dry. After glue dries, trim any overhang.
Using the hole punch, center on end of strap and punch a hole a far as you can go in. Repeat for other side.
On sides of the box, using the hole punch, center on end of strap and punch a hole a far as you can go in. Repeat for other side.
Line up the holes for the handles and the box. Push a brass fastener through both holes to attach. Repeat for other side.
P.S.. If you are anything like me and neglected to get Easter grass, you can always make some quickly by using paper and cutting it into thin shreds. The paper cutter makes quick work of it, but you can also use scissors. Just fold paper length wise and cut thin pieces.

- glue (stick or school glue)
- Tacky Glue
- 2 brass fasteners
- scissors
- single whole puncher
- optional: Exacto knife (for heavier cardboard), paper cutter (also called paper trimmer)
