Grilling season is in full effect and isn't going anywhere anytime soon here in sunny SoCal (southern California), because we like to grill year around. However, nothing is worse than being in the middle of grilling something and you run out of propane! Oh, the horrors! Especially when you are entertaining!
I chosen to review Astor's Propane Tank Pressure Gauge, which couldn't have come at a better time than in the middle of summer when we are constantly cooking on the grill. I was a bit skeptical because I have tried these gauges before and was not happy with them at all for various reasons. We've had them break, not be accurate and leak. So even with a gauge we were still running out of propane.Which is so irritating we the kids are screaming for burgers. It's 115 degrees outside and the last thing you want to do, is get out of your bathing suit, and sit in a ridiculously hot car to drive miles and miles to the nearest store for propane. Not fun...trust me on that one. We've had ice cream for dinner before, because we ran out of propane and no one wanted to go get anymore because it was too hot.
My hubby reluctantly (because he had been traumatized by tank gauges in the past) installed the gauge on our tank. The instructions were easy to understand and installation was super fast and easy, about 2 minutes (my hubby is super handy). No tools necessary. Screw threads let you attach it without tools, and it fits all brands and models with a type 1 connection and up to a 40-lb. propane tank. My hubby even commented that the Astor Propane Tank Pressure Gauge looked like it was of a higher quality than other gauges we have used in the past, because of the solid brass components.
I'll just have to take his word for it, I know nothing of tools and stuff, but I do know that I hated our last gauge because it leaked and the dial on it was super hard to read. Luckily Astor's gauge is color coded red, yellow and green, for quick and easy readings. And best of all it hasn't leaked! We attached it to a full tank, the gauge quickly registered the amount of propane in the tank, and has been keeping track of our fuel perfectly. Even my hubby is impressed!
